In 1969, the Heinz corporation published a free recipe booklet called "Spotlight On Salads". Those recipes ranged from "not exactly to my taste" to truly excellant. The best of these, in my humble opinion, is the Blue Cheese Dressing.
- 1 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
- 3 tablespoons Heinz Apple Cider or Salad Vinegar
- 1&1/2 to 3 tablespoons Ore-Ida Fresh Frozen Chopped Onions
Recipe:
Combine ingredients well. Cover; chill. Serve over sliced tomatoes, cucumbers or lettuce wedges. Makes about 1&1/4 cups.
Note:1/4 teaspoon mixed herb salad seasoning may be added to the above ingredients.
Note: (from the inside cover) When onions are called for, Heinz home economists suggest using Ore-Ida Fresh Frozen Chopped Onions. You may, however, substitute the same amount of fresh chopped onions.
